The Boomerangs at Johanna are situated in the middle of the Great
Otway National Park; in the middle of the Great Ocean Walk and halfway
along the Great Ocean Road. Consequently, we are central to all of
the major attractions of the region. As well as the obvious attractions
such as the 12 Apostles, there are a myriad of glorious, local gems
which are never as crowded and just as beautiful. This particular area
is blessed with numerous waterfalls, rainforest walks and beaches which
are simply stunning.
The Great Ocean Walk
The Great Ocean Walk on Victoria's
magnificent West Coast was first established in 2006 and rambles along
one of the most spectacular coastlines in the world for almost 100 kilometres.
The Great Ocean Walk begins in the small, coastal township of Apollo
Bay and concludes at Glenample, an old historic homestead, just before
the famous 12 Apostles. The scenery along the way is nothing short of
breathtaking. Views - stunning views of the coast and local bush - which
cannot be seen if you simply choose to drive the Great Ocean Road. The
Great Ocean Walk passes through sections of the Great Otway National
Park and also through the recently created Marine National Park and Sanctuary.
The Boomerangs at Johanna is situated midway along
the Great Ocean Walk and just 5 minutes from Johanna Beach. There are numerous walks that you can do in our local area: Johanna to Milanesia; Johanna to Castle Cove and Castle Cove to Aire River. These walks are rated at medium - nothing too difficult and are breathtakingly beautiful. If you're up to it we are well situated for you to base yourself here and do all the legs of the Great Ocean Walk. The best thing about staying at The Boomerangs is that after a long day's walking you can come home to a little bit of luxury; soak away the aches in the spa, enjoy a BBQ on the verandah while enjoying one of our sensational sunsets or just put your feet up, relax and enjoy the views and the sound of birds and waves. We recommend that you use our local shuttle services. They are very knowledgeable and reasonably priced. They can meet you at designated spots or pick you up from here and drop you back at the end of your walk. They are flexible and will work with your itinerary.
